Pilgrimage

Twice a year we hold a pilgrimage over several days at Coventry Cathedral, to share stories and experiences, and to learn from and be involved in the work of our global reconciliation ministry.

We encourage all partners and those interested in joining the Community of the Cross of Nails to come to Coventry at least once, if they can, and share in the very special and powerful message that simply coming here and being immersed in its story conveys. Twice a year, in spring and autumn, we hold a pilgrimage specifically for this purpose. It’s an occasion for partners, current and aspiring, to come together at Coventry Cathedral for prayer and contemplation, to meet others in the network, to share their stories and experiences, and to learn from and be involved in the work of the Cathedral’s global reconciliation ministry.

Our next pilgrimage in Coventry is on 17th-20th October 2023, from the evening of the Tuesday 17th until the lunchtime of the Friday 20th.

Dates for 2024 spring pilgrimage are 21st-24th May.

All partners and those wishing to join are very warmly welcomed.

The cost to attend is £225 (inc VAT) per person, which covers all lunches, evening dinners and other daytime refreshments for the three days' duration, and all activities on the pilgrimage, but excludes accommodation, breakfast, or travel to and from Coventry.

In both 2020 and 2021, during Covid-19, we trialled online pilgrimage. The structure followed the liturgical rhythm of the Cathedral as far as possible, including the Litany and morning or evening service, and followed a similar style to our regular pilgrimages as much as possible: a virtual tour of the Cathedral, led by the Dean of Coventry; an overview of the Coventry story and what it has to tell us in our current times; a Pilgrims’ story-sharing session: how have their paths led to Coventry?; a discussion session involving external speakers on a specific topic of relevance to the CCN; and a practical workshop working with an attending partner, exploring a live issue in reconciliation. We suggested a donation of £50 per person to attend.

We look forward to welcoming you to Coventry!
